A little bit about myself. My name is John Christopher
Villarreal, but I go by Chris. I tried to go by John for a little while, but
I don't like it because it makes me feel old and boring. I am 29 years old and I was born in Houston,
TX. I have been married for 6 years, and
I occasionally make my wife so upset she banishes me to the couch. I spent most of my life living in Austin and
I miss it dearly.
I spent 6 years in the
Army and I deployed to Iraq in 2006 and 2009 for 12 months each time. My job in the Army was a cavalry scout and
sniper, and I left the Army with the rank of Sergeant. My
passion is radio and entertaining. At
some point I will try to make you laugh, but forgive me if it doesn't work. Over the last year, I have been out of school
to focus on my career in radio, and to be honest I thought I would never return
to TCU again. However, I abruptly quit
my job to strike out on my own, and since I need money and the government pays
me to go to school, why the heck not?
I am taking this
class because I believe I may have the worst grammar on the planet, and a lot of my career involves heavy writing and
I am tired of submitting stuff and
having people look at me like I am an idiot.
I look forward to getting to know everyone and hopefully
being able to formulate a grammatically correct sentence at the end of the
semester.
If I can make a quick correction, I forgot to post an argument for discussion. I am a very controversial guy so hopefully no one takes offense to my arguement. I had a discussion the other day on my radio show where I made the case to invade the UK in order to overthrow the monoarchy. I believe it is a shame that a Wesetern civilization still has a governmental figurehead, such as the queen. She has no real power yet her and all of her offspring live off tax-paying dollars. There is no reason for it and it makes me sick that Harry and Kate are international celebrities for doing nothing. I can't believe any developed society would tolerate such an obvious abuse by the government. In my opinion it is criminal.

Did you like being in the military at all? I come from a family where being in the military is highly valued, though none of my cousins or my brother even expressed any interest in joining.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy the military, and sometimes I miss it immensly. The main reason I left was I wanted to start a family, and I couldn't do that if I was always away at war. I never imagined I would ever join the military, but I am very glad I made that decision.
DeleteHey Chris,
ReplyDeleteI agree with your argument that Austin is AMAZING! The only thing that could make it better in my eyes is if TCU was in Austin!! If it makes you feel any better I can probably think of some people that are also really bad at grammer so you're not alone. Also dude, don't make you wife mad. Not only is it just not a good idea but also blogging about it when you know that the majority of our english class is female, you may not find much sympathy :)
Austin would be so much better if TCU was there! My wife is used to me discussing every aspect of our relationship in front of an audience, so what I say here is mild compared to other details I have shared in the past. You're right though, I should be more aware of my audience.
